 Inauguration of 14th DRMC-Summit National Science Carnival-2023

Introduction:
"The Science of today is the technology of tomorrow” ~Edward Teller

Dhaka Residential Model College Science Club is a knowledge hub focalized by the students which was founded in 2008 with an auspicious aim of spreading and raising consciousness about the infinite applications of science among the pupils. The devoted students enthusiastic regarding science are the respective members and executives working tirelessly for the betterment of the organization under our respective institution.

Moderator: Muhammad Mustafizur Rahman, Assistant Professor, Zoology.

Objectives:
The core focuses of the club are;
• To provide proper incentive and inspiration for the pursuit of scientific knowledge in vigorous ways by broadening their scientific outlook.
• To provide opportunities for bringing other schools and colleges and other Science Clubs close to the society and acquaint the people with the services and contributions of science.
• To provide opportunity for the development of constructive, exploratory and inventive faculties of the
students.
• To create interest in latest inventions and discoveries of science in various fields and to get acquainted
with the life history and contributions of great scientists.
•To create scientific facts and events according to one’s surroundings.
•To organize an inter school and college science carnival every year.
•To discuss about interesting topics, quizzes and Olympiads and practice them.

Activities:

The club accomplishes its objectives through various activities and pupil participation events throughout the year, as such;

• Regular discussions with club members regarding various projects.
• Scientific competitions.
• Workshops on various science related subjects. Especially regarding quizzes and Olympiads.
• Guest lectures from renowned researchers and learned persons.

• Excursion

 A wonderful day has been enjoyed by the DRMC Science Club members from class VIII at the BCSIR (Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research). The knowledge thirsty students enjoyed gathering scientific information and knowledge. They also understood the relation of science to industry and agriculture. The students would like to offer a special thanks to the authority for their endless support and hospitality, and also thanks to the scientists for their zeal and sincerity in spreading knowledge among the future scientists. It is hoped that this initiative will be successful in developing science practice among the students of Bangladesh and will also contribute to the creation of a "Smart Bangladesh."

•  Tree Tagging Programme

Tree Tagging Programme was inaugurated on 19th October, 2022 by Brigadier General Kazi Shameem Farhad, ndc, psc Sir, Principal of Dhaka Residential Model College and Mr. Mustafijur Rahman Rahat, Zonal Manager BURO Bangladesh, Dhaka. This programme was sponsored by BURO Bangladesh. Brigadier General Kazi Shameem Farhad Sir along with Mr. Mustafijur Rahman Rahat tagged the Palm tree at College Campus Premises. This whole programme was supervised by Md. Nurun Nabi Sir, Club Co-Ordinator and Md. Mustafizur Rahman Sir, Moderator of DRMC Science Club. Special thanks to Hasan Sheikh Sir for his continuous efforts in helping the volunteers in tagging the trees and Ishrat Jahan Madam for her support in identifying the plants.

A presentation was given by the volunteers of DRMC Science Club "Project Green Campus" in the presence of Honorable Principal Sir, Vice-Principal Asma Begum Madam and Fatema Zohra Madam, Teacher's Representative Rashed Al Mahmud Sir, Moderator of DRMC Art Club Nurunnahar Madam, Moderator of DRMC IT Club Rasel Ahmed sir, Moderator of DRMC Social Service Club Md. Khairuzzaman Sir and other teachers and officials of BURO Bangladesh.

Dhaka Residential Model College Science Club aims to conduct more events and workshops in the near future to motivate young students to get involved in science- related activities.

14^th DRMC-Summit National Science Carnival 2023

The Carnival hosted by Dhaka Residential Model College Science Club is the most awaited and celebrated event throughout the whole country. The carnival every year hosts more than 50000 visitors and participants from indifferent institutions from every corners of the country. The carnival grandly consists of 30+ distinguish events starting from primary to university level. The management of the renowned carnival is appreciated by all the respected invitees and set the standards of the carnival higher every year.

This year’s 3-day long 14th DRMC SUMMIT National Science Carnival 2023 was grander than ever with 34 distinguished events and humongous crowd of 70000 visitors and participants from 450+ institutions around the country. With the mission to encourage juvenile learners in eternal science related activities, the biggest, the most exciting and the glorious event- 'National Science Carnival’ took on the premises of Dhaka Residential Model College for the 14th time. With a lot newer events and exciting programs, our previous records were broken and hosted the biggest gathering ever of science enthusiasts from all over the country. This open platform provided proper incentive and inspiration to all the attending enthusiasts for their pursuit of scientific knowledge. Besides, on this joyous occasion, DRMC Science Club is going to publish the 13^th addition of our annual science magazine, “Aurora”, the official souvenir of the science carnival.

And under their leadership, 67 dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly to bring up a worth remembering grand carnival which was sponsored by Summit Group, co-sponsored by Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers Exporters Association (BGMEA) and silver sponsored by Confidence Infrastructure Limited and moreover partnered by Mutual Trust Bank Limited and other respected partners. The Opening Ceremony was graced by the presence of Honorable State Minister of Power and Electricity Mr. Nasrul Hamid, MP as the Chief Guest and the closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Honorable Minister of Science and Technology Mr. Yeafesh Osman, MP.

Conclusion:
Dhaka Residential Model College Science Club is working effortlessly in an effective manner under the guidance of our Honorable Principal Brigadier General Kazi Shameem Farhad, ndc ,psc Sir and Moderator Muhammad Mustafizur Rahman Sir along with the respective executive panel and members to utilize the potential of each and every related students to work for the development of the society; country through the light of science.
